利兹大学是英国最受欢迎、同时也是入学竞争最激烈大学之一，金融专业作为每年留学申请中最热门的专业，受到很多学生的青睐。其实国内外关于金融专业的理解很有不同。国内大学关于金融专业的设置，更偏重宏观方向，以货币银行、国际金融等专业为主。这和我国的历史情况有关，在过去的二十年里投资行为还没有大幅度兴起，因此银行作为主要的金融机构，自然成为研究的主要对象。同时随着中国开放程度的加深，国际贸易得到了很大发展，因此国际金融的研究也很有必要。

国外关于金融专业的设置，是两方面都有。一方面以微观为主，也就是研究与公司个体有关的投资、融资等行为。另一方面就是和国内类似的宏观金融的研究。
